The Byrne Gallery in Middleburg presents “Almost Spring!”  in celebration of the return of brilliant color to our local Virginia landscape.  Oil on canvas paintings by renowned Virginia painters Gerald Hennesy and David Heath will feature iconic views of the Shenandoah Valley, historic gardens, majestic scenes of the Blue Ridge mountains and wildlife on Goose Creek.

The show will be on display from March 1st - April 2nd, 2023. There will a special reception on Saturday, March 11th, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and all are invited to attend.

Our beloved artist Gerald Hennesy passed away a year ago in March 2022 at the wonderful age of 100 years young. We miss him dearly. Please join us to honor his life as a World War II hero and true patriot. Gerry was buried at Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors. During WWII, Gerry flew some of the most dangerous missions in the Pacific Theater. He flew the Corsair bomber-fighter off the deck of the USS Yorktown, under the command of Admiral William “Bull” Halsey.

Over his long career, Gerry’s work has been exhibited widely in commercial and museum galleries including the Baltimore Museum of Art, the Georgia Museum of Art, The Corcoran Museum of Art, and the Smithsonian Museum. His paintings are in numerous private, corporate, and public collections, including the U. S. House of Representatives, the State Department, the Maryland State Mansion, the D.A.R. Headquarters, and the American Legion Headquarters. He is listed in Who's Who in America and Who's Who in American Art.

Now, this month of March, we are introducing artist David Heath to the Gallery. He has been painting the American landscape for over forty years. His paintings are in private and corporate collections in the U.S. and overseas. He is a member of the Adirondack Mountain School Painters, Oil Painters of America, the Salmagundi Club, The American Society of Marine Artists, and the Blue Ridge Plein Air Painters. He is the member of the Distinguished Council of Advisors at Liberty University. David’s paintings reflect a reverence for Creation and invite comparison with the Hudson River School of artists.
